Halfway Done and A List Just For Fun

21/1/15
Something I did a while ago was make a list of the things I want to do/see in Iceland, and as my exchange reaches the halfway point tomorrow, I thought I'd make a similar list for what I want to do when I go back to the states:
  • Travel more
  • Spend more time with my family and friends
  • Not stress out as much about school
  • Participate more in things I'm interested in, especially new things, even if it means sacrificing downtime
  • Go back to being a vegetarian/generally eat healthier
  • Continue to learn Icelandic and French (one of those is going to be much easier than the other, I think)
  • Begin learning Scottish Gaelic (maybe Spanish as well? It would certainly be good to know. I also have a lot of friends that speak other languages who might be willing to teach them to me...)
  • Customize my rooms more--this year has made me realize the importance of having your own personalized space to relax in
  • Continue hoop/hammock and perhaps begin doing aerial silks
  • Appreciate daylight (not even joking)
That's about it, I think! Please don't get me wrong--I'm looking forward to five more months here and seeing what will unfold in that time. I've already learned so much, and now that I have a group of friends and am somewhat adjusted to living here, I know that there will be even more to enjoy in the time I have left. Thanks for reading!

Herbergið Mitt/My Room

4/1/15
It's a new year, and in the spirit of that I decided to do some redecorating in my room here.

Before:

After:

It's definitely still a work in progress (it took me ages just to get my old room into a state that I'm fairly happy with, and my room at my dad's house is still sort of a blank canvas even after living there for over a year), but I find that once I begin projects like this it's hard for me to stop until they're done--or, at least as done as they can be until I decide to redecorate again. Right now I've got a lot of ideas bouncing around inside my head for what I should do next, and I'll probably start with changing the pictures in the frames to ones by yours truly; it does seem strange that someone who takes pictures as often as myself has essentially left the screensaver on default on the desktop that is my room. Then there's picking out at least one bedset myself, possibly hanging up more pictures and such on the walls, and as for that shelf...well, we don't need to talk about the shelf.

Oh, and I'll be posting Christmas and New Year's photos soon (mostly New Year's, as it's my favorite holiday). Now that the break's over, it's back to business as usual, which means I can procrastinate on sorting through pictures no longer. Probably for the best...
