Raufarhöfn Adventure(!) pt. 1: Point A to Point B

So, last weekend I went on a roadtrip with Anna (my AFS counselor) from Reykjavík all the way to Raufarhöfn, which looked something like this:

When driving across Iceland, you have to kind of drive around the edge in order to avoid running into glaciers.

The mountains were already gorgeous, but one cool little bonus is that there are houses scattered over them, which allows you to see just how big the mountains are by comparison.







It was around this time that the storm rolled in.



We had only just made it through the worst of the weather by a couple of hours before finding out that the road we had been on was now closed, so we were rather lucky. Especially since that meant I got to take pictures like these:







I don't think photos really do it justice, but once the snowfall stopped the mountains looked more at peace somehow.
 That's it for this entry, and the next one won't be coming until at least after the Akureyri trip this weekend, but here's a preview of things to come:
